The NEED

The students at the Bible School of The Americas rely on a salary each month as a part of their scholarship to attend the school. The school is growing each year and these students are helping fortify the growth and stability of the church all over Latin America. We have allocated $70,000 to cover the salaries of these students while they are in school. This helps to buy their food and any other personal needs that they might have.

The challenge

Every month the average American family eats from a restaurant 8 times. Even at a fast-food restaurant the cost per person is about $11 while a mid-tier restaurant could be as much as $30 per person.

SKIP-A-MEAL CHALLENGE: 1 meal, Once a month, for one year.

We challenge you to eat 1 less meal from a restaurant each month and use the money that you saved to help support the students at the Bible School of the Americas. Eat at home as economically as you can so that you can help train young men to be preachers.

The “HOW-TO”

STEP 1: Accept The Challenge

Register you and your family by clicking the button. We’ll send you a reminder each month.

STEP 2: Make a plan

Pick one day each month to “Skip-A-Meal” and make it fun for the family. Choose a different theme each month. Plan the meal. Choose your restaurant. Look at the menu online. Pick what you would like as your meal (don’t forget dessert!). Then add up the “Bill”. This can be a fun and engaging opportunity to teach younger children about sacrifice and giving.

Finally, plan a simple meal at home. Sandwiches, boxed Mac and Cheese, hot dogs… something inexpensive. You could even choose an empathetic route by fixing rice and beans with tortillas to help relate to the cultural norms of your brethren in Latin American cultures.

Ultimately, this needs to be an event where we engage the whole family once a month to remind them about the importance of mission work and training preachers in foreign countries.
