• The cost of our campaigns have two components. First, there is the airfare. We have no control over the cost of flights and we don't get any discounts on group reservations.

The second cost is what we have termed, Shared Team Expenses (STE). STE is an all-inclusive cost that spreads the cost of the campaign evenly for all campaign members. We work really hard to keep this number as low as possible. Your shared team expense is calculated to include the following:

    • Lodging

    • Food (Sometimes we are unable to include meals in the STE for logistical reasons. If this is the case, we will inform you how many meals you will need to cover with cash out of pocket.)

    • Transportation

    • Cost for native workers and translators

    • Cost for planning and leading the campaigns by LAM staff

    • Team t-shirts

    • Commitment support for the local congregation

    • Supplies and logistics associated with the planning and execution of the campaign

STE is calculated AFTER registration for the campaign is closed so we can give the most accurate budget as possible. Therefore, you can expect to receive the STE final cost between 70-80 days before the campaign. However, on average our typical Shared Team Expense will range from $1100-1300 per person. This does NOT include airfare.

    • Mail a check payable to “Latin American Missions” to Forrest Park Church of Christ P.O. Box 2330 Valdosta, GA 31604.

    • Using PayPal, send money to donate@forrestpark.org. Click HERE and hit the “donate” button. This charges a 2.4% fee, so you will need to add that amount to the funds you are sending.

    • Do not forget to earmark the funds. As an example, when sending campaign shared team expenses, make a note of your name, the type of campaign, and the location.

  • We recommend that you visit CDC.gov for vaccination advice and talk with your primary care physician. For travel to Latin America, the typical recommendations are to have updated Tetanus, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B vaccinations. No vaccinations are required for entry into any of the countries in which we conduct campaigns. For Covid-19 questions, see Are there any Covid-19 Restrictions? on this page.

  • Covid-19 vaccination is NOT required for entry into any of the countries in which we conduct campaigns. The only country that presently has entry restrictions is Honduras, which requires either a vaccination or negative PCR test within 72 hours of entry (as of January 10, 2023). There are zero covid restrictions of any kind for entry into Peru, Panama, and Costa Rica.

  • The term “Medical Team” is somewhat misleading. This is an Evangelistic Campaign that uses a medical clinic as a means to open doors to teach the Gospel. A typical medical campaign will last 8-9 days; 2-3 days for travel, one day for setup, 4 days of evangelism and medical attention, and one day to experience more cultural immersion, tourism and/or shopping. A medical campaign typically begins early and goes late each day. We maximize our working hours as much as possible, always looking for one more soul.

A medical team is only made up of about 15% medical professionals. There are so many jobs to be covered by people from all walks of life. If you don’t know how to do the job, we’ll show you how to do it! There is something for everyone on a medical campaign, from teens to retirees.

  • “YES” stands for Young Evangelistic Servants. It was started as a real-world implementation of the annual “Y.E.S. Weekend” youth conference at the Forrest Park church of Christ. YES II campaigns are structured so that seasoned Christians mentor young Christians while evangelizing a community. This kind of campaign is not just for young people. It works best when it mirrors the demographic of an average congregation.

  • You must be fourteen or older to come on a campaign. A child as young as thirteen can come only with an accompanying parent. We ask that team leaders from partnering congregations use their best judgment to determine who is mature enough to participate in a campaign. There is no upper age limit, as long as your health is well enough to do a lot of walking in tropical climates.

  • Yes. Only faithful Christians will be given spiritual responsibilities. Non-Christians can go, BUT they need to understand two important things. 1) Our campaigns are designed for a purpose, to seek and save the lost, and they need to understand that we base all our decisions on that specific goal. 2.) As a non-member, they are a prospect and will be evangelized. Also, we often have young people on campaigns who have not made the decision to become a Christian yet. Occasionally, we have campaigners who decide to become a Christian and are baptized during the trip. The experience of a campaign can awaken someone to their spiritual state and convict them to turn to God in faith, whether in the decision to become a Christian or rededicate their life to God. It is always to the discretion of the team leader to allow or deny individuals from participating in a campaign.

  • Campaigns are typically eight to nine days. We usually arrive on a Friday or Saturday and leave on a Saturday or Sunday. The specifics will vary from trip to trip at the discretion of the team leader. Making the campaigns any longer than this would make it difficult for many people to participate.

  • Begin by talking with the leadership at your local congregation. Often times it is beneficial to ask them to collect any money you raise so people can make a tax-deductible contribution to your mission trip. Then make a list of 30-50 people (family, friends, church members, etc.) and churches that you know. Send letters to them explaining what your goal is. If you click HERE, we have provided a generic campaign support request letter that you can download and personalize.

  • YES. As followers of Christ and representatives of His gospel, our dress needs to be guided by holiness. We are calling the lost to partake of a holy life. How we dress can either undermine or affirm that message. With this in mind, the Forrest Park elders ask you NOT to wear the following: shorts, leggings, tight clothing, tank-tops, sleeveless shirts, or spaghetti straps. (Mid-calf capri pants are acceptable.) It is to the discretion of the team leaders to ask someone to change clothes during the campaign.

  • No. If you know some Spanish, that’s great! But it’s not required. We have great relationships with bilingual members of the church in Latin America who accompany us as translators. On YES II campaigns, we aim to have one translator for every evangelism team. If you are fluent in Spanish, ask us about the possibility of partnering with us as a translator.

  • Yes. International travel requires a passport. The steps for acquiring a passport depend on where you live. You will have to go to the post office, county court house, or other designated area. You will be able to find the specifics online. It takes 6-9 weeks to get your passport. So, if you are planning to go on a campaign, apply for it immediately. While specifics vary from country to country, you need to renew your existing passport if it expires within the six month period after the campaign. If you are going on a campaign and already have a passport, do you know where it is?
