I had the opportunity this past June of attending the first two days of the Bible School of the Americas Lectureship on the campus in Panama. Many of the topics centered on developing and growing the leadership in the Lord’s church which is a very timely and much needed subject matter throughout our brotherhood.
But WHY have a lectureship? Why did over five hundred people take time out of their busy schedules and travel hundreds, sometime thousands, of miles to attend? Was it just to hear the well prepared lessons on developing and growing leadership? I would like to contend that it was to Refresh... Renew..... and Recharge, if you wIill, their spiritual batteries.
If a battery is left unattended, its electrical current will drain, and over time it will lose its charge. We need to continually charge our spiritual batteries, so that the input of energy is higher than the output of energy. If your spiritual battery is being constantly drained, then it is important to intentionally take action to recharge. Otherwise, there will come a time when the power of your faith is needed in your life, only to find your battery is dead. Take action to continually charge your batteries through opportunities of edification from your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Hebrews 10:24 teaches us to “consider one another to provoke unto love and good works”, and then in verse 25 to “exhort one another.“ This lectureship recharged my spiritual battery as well as many others, I’m sure!
